Ok – these aren’t actually engagement photos. Lisa and MoReno are for real-life married, and they have been for a few years. But, ya know, gotta squeeze that good SEO juice. When I chatted with them about the location for their photo session, they said, to my surprise, that they wanted their *ahem* engagement photos in Dexter, Michigan.
Engagement Photos in Downtown Dexter
I was surprised when Lisa said she wanted this location simply because there are so many parks and public spaces in the Dexter area that downtown Dexter seemed like we may be limiting ourselves location-wise.
The good news is that the boardwalk that goes along the Huron River offers a variety of backdrops. There were plenty of flowers, flowing water, and greenery that gave us tons of options
Deer at the boardwalk in Dexter, Michigan
Here’s a secret about me: animals find me wherever I am. Stray dogs, cats, birds – wildlife in general seems to like me. In Maui, it was always turtles, geese, monk seals, and whales. I even scooped up an octopus from the ocean one time! Here in Michigan? Well – I’ve had deer, ducks, dragonflies – and I’m sure there will be many more to come.
We were lucky this time to see a deer super close to the boardwalk! And thank you to MoReno and Lisa for holding very, very still for me while I composed my shot. The deer didn’t seem to care too much as long as she was able to continue gnawing on her salad. This was definitely an amazing Midwest moment for me!
Engagement Photos in Monument Park
Part of the reason Lisa was drawn to Dexter is that she has family ties to Monument Park – as do I! My dad’s name is on a brick there as he is a veteran, and her dad helped design the gazebo! We got there after sunset, but were able to snap a few really beautiful images of the two of them with that famous Dexter landmark in the background.
MoReno and Lisa – thank you for helping me celebrate your anniversary in style. Sorry that I had to put engagement photos, but you know how that goes!
Oh – and if you’re looking for an incredible wedding coordinator – Lisa is your gal. Go follow her over on her insta : LG Event Design and check out her own on her Michigan Wedding Coordinator Website
