I promised myself I would complete this blog post before January first so I could publish the first week of January and look like a bad-ass-on-top-of-her-game photographer.

Well, the first week of January has come and gone and here we are mid-month and I’ve plopped myself down in a coffee shop in Paia (the lovely Sip Me) and I’m forcing myself to get-er-done.

Last year, I photographed 45 families, 22 weddings, and 17 sweethearts.

Holy smokes. And in case you don’t follow me on IG or you’re just casually stopping by and we don’t know each other – I had a baby last year. She changed everything once she came along and I’ve been struggling to keep up (oh – and I run another business – Engaged on Maui – and we shot 130 proposals in 2017!).

But ya know what – as dynamic as 2017 was, I’m so thankful that my clients trust me to deliver photos to them that that document special moments in their lives.

And if anything, being a mother has reinforced how IMPORTANT photographs are and have re-ignited the fire within me to continue to create amazing images for my clients!

Looking back through all of my galleries it was really hard to choose my favorites. Sometimes the light was working in the right way – sometimes I look back at the photos and remember the session so clearly because of how special it was (secret weddings and pregnancy announcements – OH MY!).

Whatever it was, I’m humbled each time I book a new client. Or dare I say friend. Because that’s what it feels like after we are done!

To my 2017 clients : I do hope our paths cross again!

So here they are: my best images of 2017!

What have I learned about myself looking back through these? I love wide shots and center-justification (rule of thirds, be damned!). Hah!

I have some big announcements coming right around the corner. I’ll be blogging about them as soon as all the pieces have fallen into place. But I’ll give you some quick insight:

  1. I am focusing on larger weddings in 2018 (4+ hours). My Sweetheart and Family sessions will be limited because of this.
  2. HOWEVER, I will be bringing on an associate for families and couples in February!
  3. I’m shooting my first off-island wedding in February – which I’m SO excited about because it’s my first wedding that’s not on Maui! WEEEEEEE!!!!!
  4. Guys. I’m getting a drone. It’s going to be sweet. And I can’t wait to incorporate it into my Sweetheart Sessions and Weddings!

Thanks for hanging out and checking out my favs of 2017.

Love,

Angie
