Shots during the ceremony. Bride walking down the aisle to the Game of Thrones theme song. More shots of Jameson. Extra large wine glasses. This destination wedding in Maui at Olowalu Plantation House was fun, stylish, and completely true to the bride and groom. If you’re looking for a sign to find the perfect destination wedding venue in Maui, look no further.
Before even meeting Kim IRL (we were able to chat via Skype), I knew she was my kind of bride. She sent me a before and after photo of her bridal shower that literally made me snort my water when I saw the after. I’ll let the photo remain a mystery, but I will tell you that she was no longer upright and there may or may not have been alcohol involved. Walking into their condo over at Puamana (where they were getting ready), I could tell already that I would vibe well with this wedding party. The guys were drinking and joking around downstairs (and reluctantly listening to Kanye) while the girls got beautified upstairs. I’ve never photographed a couple getting ready in the same condo before – and I’ve decided that it’s my favorite thing ever. I loved that the girls could call down to the guys if they needed anything. And there was this secretive nature of getting Kim out of the house before Lando could see her!
The Wedding Ceremony at Olowalu Plantation House
The ceremony was held at my favorite Maui wedding venue: Olowalu Plantation House. The arch really stole the show here. I LOVED what Altered Maui created for them. The circular arch perfectly framed them and was so different from what I typically see!
The wedding was officiated by their friends and there were shots involved during the vows. There was so much joy with these two and so much authenticity. They did the ceremony their way and it was absolutely perfect.
The Reception at Olowalu Plantation House
During cocktail hour, I looked up toward the West Mauis and realized it was starting to drizzle. And I knew EXACTLY what that meant. I grabbed Kim and Lando (as they reluctantly put down their drinks) and said “Guys. There’s gonna be a rainbow. We gotta go NOW!” It was seriously the best rainbow I’ve seen at Olowalu. And I’m so happy they left their cocktail hour to literally run to the pier with me!
The sunset was epic and the sky lit up perfectly for these two. We got lots of great shots down by the water and, of course, at the famous Olowalu Pier.
The rest of the night flew by in a blur. Epic speeches and a grand entrance that will put most other grand entrances to shame. The whisky was flowing and the dance floor was packed!
So, enjoy these photos of Kim and Lando’s Destination wedding venue in Maui at Olowalu Plantation House!
