Emotional Maui Beach Elopement
These two had a 200-person wedding planned, and after struggling through the stress of hunting for a venue, whittling down the guest-list, and adding up all the costs, they decided that an emotional Maui beach elopement was just the thing for them.
I had actually done their engagement photos last year. When Caitlin contacted me with the news they were going to elope in Maui, I was ecstatic! It is not often that I get to see clients more than once because Maui is such a destination location. So to not only photograph their engagement (which we had a ton of fun doing), and then to get the honor to photograph their wedding was pretty special.
They started off getting ready at the Four Seasons. The hair and makeup artist Amelia Vandament met Caitlin in the hotel room to get her wedding-ready! Caitlin and Will got ready in the same room, but Will left a little early to pick up their Maui Roadster they would be driving that day. They got to do their first look in a kind of impromptu way in the lobby of Four Seasons.
Before the ceremony we went to a nearby beach to get some romantic portraits in the greenery. We then went to Po’olenalena Beach where they were tying the knot. Stephan Boeker did the videography, and they chose to have a live-feed of the ceremony so family at home could “be with them”. Caitlin and Will’s family and friends had four different viewing parties across the country because of the cool service that Stephan provides!
We had a wide open beach with bright blue skies for the ceremony. It was absolutely beautiful. There was so much love and emotion between these two. I even teared up at one point which doesn’t happen for every wedding. They were just go great together, and their words were so beautiful. They were so excited to get married!
After the ceremony, we stayed at Po’olenalena for some photos. Then we headed further south to Makena. We got some great shots with the Maui Roadster which were some of my favorite from this elopement.
At the very end, right at sundown, we headed back to the Four Seasons where they had an Ultimate Dinner ready for them. The sunset put on quite the show for these newlyweds. Cheers to my second couple of the year to forego a huge wedding and just elope on Maui!
Caitlin and Will: Congratulations on your emotional Maui beach elopement! Best wishes for a lifetime of love!
