From the epic dance party, a full sky of stars, and all the emotions, Jenny and Ricardo’s Five Palms wedding in Maui, Hawaii was nothing short of a perfect celebration.
Meeting Jenny and Ricardo was like meeting old friends. The love that they pour into their friends and family is palpable. The way Jenny embraced Ricardo’s daughter, the way Jenny’s dad hugged his son-to-be, all the tears shed as grandma sang for the first time in 20 years at their reception. Every little detail of this wedding was immersed in love.
Another thing I loved about their wedding was that Jenny let her bridesmaids wear whatever they wanted to! The girls had floral print dresses, but Jenny let them pick what dress they’d like. And then with the wizardry of Hair and Makeup by Heather, the whole look was pulled together flawlessly.
And my favorite moment with the boys was when Ricardo almost ironed his shirt with a bottle of VODKA because his groomsman had tried to hide it in a water bottle! He almost tackled Ricardo to make sure he didn’t pour it into the iron!
The ceremony was performed by a family friend and was short and sweet. They presented Ricardo’s daughter with a beautiful necklace to symbolize the joining of their family. And then the party commenced!
Five Palms Restaurant Wedding
This was my first time photographing a wedding at the Five Palms Restaurant in Wailea. Situated right off the beach at Keawakapu, this spot is great for a lawn ceremony and a private reception. There are also some great spots to take photos during sunset time!
My favorite portrait from this session was taken from their suite up top! I so badly want a drone (but bought a house instead), but getting into their suite for a few shots seemed like a good compromise!
When the sun had set far below the horizon, we pulled Jenny and Ricardo for a quick nighttime shot. They reluctantly left the dance party and follow me to the dark grassy knoll outside of the venue.
“I promise it will be worth it,” I told them.
Ricardo and Jenny – thank you for choosing me to document your Five Palms Wedding in Maui. There were so many moments of love, laughter, dancing, and joy. I was absolutely thankful to be a part of it all.
