Gorgeous Anniversary Photos in Maui
I’m going to let you in on a little secret: I’m pretty much in love with this sweet couple that came all the way from Georgia to reconnect in Maui. Thea contacted me a few months back and when we chatted on the phone it was like I was talking with an old friend! She was warm and sweet and had the best giggle. I knew right then that this shoot needed to be extra, extra special.
Thea and Jeramy got married five years ago and found out soon after they were expecting their first child. Then soon after the birth of their first daughter, they found out that they were expecting again, but this time, it was TWINS!
As Thea put it, the last five years have been a series of joy and sadness. When the opportunity to come to Hawaii to spend time reconnecting as husband and wife presented itself, they jumped at it. They left all three girls with grandma and grandpa and began their long journey from Georgia to Hawaii (with a direct flight from Atlanta – yikes!). All of that with her wedding dress in tow (it was worth it, in case you were wondering).
I love all of the care Thea and Jeramy took into creating the session that they wanted! Thea had her hair and makeup done by Meili Autumn Beauty and she looked absolutely FLAWLESS. I love how Meili and her team work with you to bring out your best features!
Thea wanted to recreate some wedding images and I knew that Honolua jungle was the perfect place for it. This place is just dripping in greenery and jungle goodness. I always feel like I’m in the Jungle Book when I’m at this location. Well, except for the chickens – and believe me when I say they are in abundance! We paired Thea’s wedding gown with a gorgeous haku made by Alyssa (follow her IG at @pinapplesandpolkadotshawaii).
After the jungle we made our way to the cliffs and beach – and it was time to break out that red dress! Thea’s friend Beth beautifully crafts dresses and floral pieces and I was lucky enough to photograph one on Thea! You can check out her dresses at Bee Unique Bowtique.
There were so many details that made this shoot special, but what made it most special was the connection that Thea and Jeramy shared. They were so connected to one another during the shoot and never once did it feel forced or contrived. They moved naturally together and, as a photographer who photographs a lot of couples, I can say that chemistry like this is hard to come by. Hearing their story and watching them together I really felt that I was in the presence of true love. And sheesh, if my job isn’t awesome enough, photographing people like Thea and Jeramy make me fall in love my career and Maui all over again.
Thea and Jeramy – thank you for choosing me to take your gorgeous anniversary photos in Maui, Hawaii. Meeting you two was the highlight of my week.
