April and Kyle had a beautiful oceanfront Maui wedding at the Kukahiko Estate in Makena. This was my first wedding after COVID hit and I could not be more thankful that it was April and Kyle’s wedding. There were only family members present which couldn’t have been more perfect, especially after the craziness of the pandemic. I love this venue because you can still have a smaller wedding and reception with those stunning oceanfront views.
Kyle didn’t want to see April in her wedding dress AT ALL. When I met with them for coffee a few days before their wedding, I asked about her dress and he left the table so he wouldn’t hear anything about it! It was really cute.
Instead of doing a first look, they opted for a first touch. April and Kyle wanted to write their own vows and exchange them with each other privately so this was the perfect time for that! We found a place for them to hold hands and read their vows to one another before the ceremony.
Even though the bride and groom did a first touch, April wanted to do a first look with her father. She and her dad have a very special relationship and the dad was a little emotional which made for a really sweet moment. I will say this was one of my favorite moments from the day. There’s nothing sweeter than a sappy father.
Now it’s time for the ceremony…
Just as April was walking down the aisle, a massive gust of wind came and blew her cathedral-length veil off of her head. She made some great faces while her veil was going crazy. It just proves that anything can happen during your wedding day! I loved editing this wedding because I got to relive all of these special and funny moments.
The lighting was absolutely perfect for bridal portraits! These two are so natural and in love, it made my job unbelievably easy. All in all, this oceanfront wedding was exactly what I needed after all of the pandemic stress. I’m so thankful for these two!
Special thanks to the vendors who made this day happen!
