Vibrant Kukahiko Estate Wedding
This wedding I loved! It was full of color and personality. It takes a really bold person to move away from the typical white wedding dress, and Victoria was that person! Makena Weddings coordinated this vibrant Kukahiko Estate wedding.
We had a beautiful day with bright blue skies and intermittent clouds. The styling for this wedding was on point 100%! They had a lot of really lovely details. Victoria, the bride, designed the place cards, the menu, and the programs which were done in varying shades of blue. She had a nice vision for a palette of pinks and blushes and soft, vibrant colors for her wedding day.
We started with Victoria getting reading at the Kuhahiko Estate. I love this location because it is intimate , but it has a ton of cool aspects at the venue. Jesse had chosen not to see Victoria before the ceremony. Which wound up being really cool because he didn’t know what her dress looked like before she walked down the aisle. It was a nice moment when he was surprised with his bride’s pink wedding dress! She wore it so well!
During the ceremony, they exchanged beautiful vows. One of their favorite parts of the wedding was when the ukulele player played “I Lava You” from the Disney Pixar’s Lava. They shed a tear or two because this song is really special to them.
After cocktail hour, we headed out to the lava rock jetty at the Kukahiko Estate. This is one of my favorite places to go in South Maui for portraits. The sunset that evening was spectacular. The coordinator and I even joked about how we ordered the sunset specifically to match the brides dress, which it did in the most lovely way.
I think my favorite part of the whole wedding was the after dark lighting. After the sun sunk below the horizon, the magic happened. Victoria had beautiful glass bulbs which had lights on the inside. It made for a gorgeous setting while they were eating dinner and I got to play with my off-camera flash which is one of my favorite things to do.
