Intimate Maui Wedding at Merriman’s
Jessie and Herman decided to forego a 200-person wedding to have a smaller wedding with only a few people here in Maui. They decided that an intimate Maui wedding at Merriman’s in Kapalua was the perfect fit for them. And I have to say that I really love this spot! They rented out the whole wine bar area where they had these epic views of Molokai and Lanai. And of course bright blue water with the ocean. They had a gorgeous archway as well.
They started off with a first look which I LOVE. I love first looks because it gives the bride and groom a chance to see one another and interact before the wedding ceremony. It was really sweet how Herman lit up when Jessie tapped his shoulder and he turned around. I also loved that Herman brought her her favorite lip balm, Burt’s Bees Pomegranate. She hadn’t been able to find one, and he surprised her with it, which was really cute.
Another really lovely personal touch was that Jessie’s brother played the guitar as she walked down the aisle. Their ceremony was super sweet with some handwritten vows to one another. They ended the ceremony with the Jewish tradition of breaking the glass and everyone shouting “Mazel Tov!”
After the ceremony there was cocktail hour, and I took the newlyweds down to the rocks fronting Merriman’s. This is one of my favorite spots to shoot romantics. We got a spectacular Maui sunset that night with cotton candy colored skies.
After the sun had set, we headed back to Merriman’s where they had a small reception. The light faded into the night sky and the intimate Maui wedding was just perfect.
Jessie and Herman: Congratulations on your intimate Maui wedding at Merriman’s. I loved all the personal touches you had in your ceremony. Cheers!
