I typically don’t get nervous before proposals anymore. Since launching Engaged on Maui in 2015, I’ve personally photographed close to 100 proposals and my team has shot many more than that. So, needless to say, I walked into Kristie and Tagh’s gorgeous north shore Maui beach proposal thinking I wouldn’t have the jitters at all.
I was wrong.
Turns out, when you know the couple there’s way more pressure. And what if she sees me in the bushes? Then it will really be blown because I won’t be able to make a good excuse why I’m hiding in foliage with multiple cameras.

But luckily, everything turned out perfectly. He casually popped the question while taking their dog Korra on a beach stroll. Tagh and Kristie’s parents were in town at the same time – to check out wedding venues for their 2019 wedding – so it worked out perfectly for him to propose during that time. Oh – and you read that right. They were planning the wedding before he popped the question! When you know, you know!
But really, I’m so excited for this couple. They’re truly some of the most genuine and lovely humans I have met while on Maui. Authentic, compassionate, super smart – and together they’re even better. AND I get to photograph their big day in May! I’m really excited about that!
